SYNOPSIS

Every year, numerous poetry festivals take place across Europe. In a short 25-minute documentary, we explore several festivals that have evolved over the years into more than just poetry readings. These festivals seek new forms and approaches to engage poetry-loving audiences, building bridges between poets and their listeners. From Sweden to Spain, from Germany to Belgium, and back to Slovenia, we showcase the innovative horizons these poetry festivals are bringing to the world.

Marko Kumer Murč was tasked with capturing the stories of festivals such as, Dnevi poezije in vina (Slovenia), Poetas (Spain), Poetic Bazar (Belgium), Hausacher LeseLenz (Germany), and Littfest (Sweden). Coordinating different camera operators and local producers posed a significant challenge. One of the biggest hurdles was finding a translator who could translate Northern Sami into English. Even in the face of these problems, Marko was able to showcase the beauty of spoken word across European nations.
