WAITING FOR THE TRAIN
LOGLINE
During the years of the Yugoslav war, 11-year-old Samir waits for the arrival of his father.
SYNOPSIS
At the Jesenice train station, Samir waits for the international train that might bring his father back from the Bosnian battlefield. It’s 1992, and the Yugoslav war is raging. Samir’s mother, Selma, hears that her usually well-behaved son has damaged a train. Meanwhile, Samir gets into an argument with football-loving classmates, but his Serbian friend Zoran intervenes and invites him to play basketball. A simple lunch invitation stirs painful memories of Samir’s absent father. At home, Selma insists they confront the accusations at the station, leading to a deeper conversation about Samir’s actions and the truth about his father.
